Netx: Using Rypple to Enhance Company Culture

Company culture is something we value greatly at Netx so when we were recently approached by Rackspace.com to share how we use Rypple, we were thrilled.  Rypple is an online tool that we use to congratulate one another on our achievements and share successes with the rest of the office.  Since such a large part of our culture is to recognize and thank members of our team for the work they do, Rypple was the perfect tool to provide centralized, real time feedback.  One of the features that we really love is the ability to create custom badges.  Current Netx badges include the “Burning the Midnight Oil” badge for those who stay late, as well as badges to recognize the winners of our March Madness and Super Bowl pools.  With the help of this tool we’ve been able to create an environment that fosters motivated and energized employees!

More Than 60% of Users Clicking on Mobile Ads

According to a study by Mojiva and InsightExpress, more than 60% of users click on mobile ads at least once a week.  The users polled indicated that mobile ads relating to retail stores, weather, and sports resonated well.  Over 84% of users deemed ‘normal banner ads,’ ‘video ads,’ or ‘animated banner ads’ as the forms of marketing they would most likely pay attention to while a modest 13% of users reported they’d pay the most attention to text ads.

The Green Sites category held on to the #1 spot in April with more than 26 million Americans visiting green websites.  Yahoo! Sites ranked as the #1 property in April with 187.4 million visitors while the Google Ad Network led the Ad Focus rankings reaching 91.6% of Americans online.

Internet Usage, Video Streams Soar

Despite a slight monthly decline in the amount of time spent online, Nielsen estimates that in April, internet access grew to 244 million individuals in the United States.  While on the internet, Americans streamed 14.7 billion videos, the most streams ever in one month.

Q1 Retail E-commerce Sales Total $46B

U.S. Retail E-commerce sales in Q1 of 2011 totaled $46 billion, up 3.4% from Q4 of 2010.  In addition, the $46 billion in Q1 of 2011 was an 18% increase from Q1 of 2010.  E-commerce sales accounted for 4.5% of total retail spending for Q1 2011.

Facebook Friends Now Fueling Faster Decisions on Bing

Bing has partnered with Facebook to create a more social search experience after research found that 90% of people seek advice from family and friends as part of their decision making process.  Users will now be able to receive personalized search results based on the opinions of their friends by simply signing into Facebook.  New features will make it easier to see what your Facebook friends “like” across the web while incorporating the collective know-how of the web into your search results.
